DH MTB Frame (Travel: >180mm)
MK’s Downhill MTB Frame is designed specifically for downhill riding on defined tracks and courses, where riders descend steep terrain at high speed, often repeating the same run multiple times. The frame is built to deliver stability, control, and consistency under these conditions, prioritizing downhill performance without consideration for climbing or pedaling efficiency.
The MK Downhill MTB Frame is developed for dedicated downhill use on race tracks and bike-park courses. The key frame characteristics below explain how the frame is engineered to support high-speed descending, repeated impacts, and reliable performance across continuous downhill runs.
Downhill Geometry for Track Control
Downhill riding takes place on defined tracks and courses where precision and consistency are essential. The frame geometry is tuned to deliver predictable handling on prepared downhill lines, helping riders maintain control through fast corners, compressions, and technical sections encountered repeatedly during downhill runs.
Long-Travel Suspension for Repeated Impacts
With suspension travel exceeding 180mm, the frame is designed to absorb the large, repeated impacts typical of downhill tacks, such as rock gardens, braking bumps, and drop features. This long-travel setup allows the suspension to perform consistently over continuous runs, maintaining control as impact loads accumulate.
Reinforced Structure for High-Speed Loads
Downhill riding subjects the frame to sustained stress from hard braking, heavy impacts, and high-speed forces. Reinforced aluminum construction and 148mm Boost rear spacing provide the stiffness and load support needed to maintain frame integrity and alignment during repeated downhill use.
Wheel and Brake Setup for Downhill Control
Downhill tacks demand stable wheel behavior and strong, consistent braking. The frame supports 26”, 27.5”, and mixed wheel configurations, allowing handling to be tuned for different track layouts. A post-mount brake interface with 180mm rotors supports the braking performance required for steep, high-speed descents.
Customizable Downhill Platform
The frame platform allows key elements – such as kinematics, cable routing, tire clearance, welding style, and surface finishing – to be customized to meet specific downhill project requirements while preserving a clear focus on downhill performance.
MK’s Downhill MTB Frame is a purpose-built platform for high-speed downhill riding on defined tracks and courses, delivering stability, impact control, and durability run after run. Contact us to discuss downhill frame customization or project requirements.
